New wave meets Nippon classics

From Friday 31 January to Sunday 2 February 2025, the Bremen Classic Motorshow (BCM) will open its doors for the 23rd time at MESSE BREMEN. The BCM team has further developed innovations from recent years, prepared new special shows and will for the first time hold an automobilia and petromobilia auction during the show.

High-performance icons from the Far East
For decades, they were mocked as bargain-basement models with no pedigree, as wallflowers of their species. Yet today they enjoy cult status: Sports cars from Japan, the boomers and blue chips of the classic car community. It’s been a steep trajectory that has catapulted some types to a new appreciation of their exotic, sometimes unique but always reliable technical qualities. Others have gained fans because of the exclusivity that comes from originally only being available in Japan. And others are heavily in demand due to their heroic roles in today’s gaming world – above all from younger classic car fans. The Bremen Classic Motorshow traditionally kicks off the classic car season. For its 23rd show, it is rolling out the red carpet for exotic specimens from the far east: with our major special show presenting twelve high-performance Japanese icons spanning four decades.

Groundbreaking era in two-wheeler history
The 1980s occupy a special place in motorcycle history. It featured a new wave of rapid diversification on the motorbike market. In this decade, new motorcycle types as well as technical and design innovations emerged which are still on the market today. Suddenly, completely new species hit the road: super sports bikes, choppers, tourers and touring enduros became available on the mass market. The decade also brought technical innovations such as aluminium frames, central shock absorbers, fuel injection, 3-way catalytic converters and anti-lock braking systems. With 24 carefully curated models, the motorcycle special show at the Bremen Classic Motorshow will present bestsellers and milestones from this exceptional era.

A new home for young classic car fans
The classic vehicle community is growing old. Everybody recognises the problem, but the Bremen Classic Motorshow team is taking action. Last year, a large Young Enthusiast area was created in a prime spot at the Classic Motorshow. It attracted a lot of attention, with positive comments from visitors and the media. Next year, the project will be further developed. “We want to give young classic car fans more than just a space here. We want to give them a home”, says Frank Ruge, Project Manager of the Bremen Classic Motorshow. “There will be a Young Classic Enthusiast area again. And this time, we’ve taken on board ideas from the participants for the design of our exhibition.”

Premium memorabilia auctions
The Bremen Classic Motorshow traditionally kicks off the classic car season in Germany. Now, it is also the start of the auction year for Wormser Reklame auction house. Europe’s leading expert for auctions of historic advertising articles has joined us in a cooperation due to last several years.

From now on, the company will hold an auto and petrol-themed memorabilia auction on the Saturday of the Bremen Classic Motorshow. The name of the event is Oil & Rust – Antique Automobilia & Petromobilia. The hammer will fall in Bremen on over 300 historic items. Ahead of the event, the experts from Wormser Reklame will quality-check every one of them.

About the Bremen Classic Motorshow: Since 2003, the Bremen Classic Motorshow has become established as the first classic vehicle trade show of the year in Germany. Over three days every year, collectors and grease monkeys, first-time fans and long-term enthusiasts, dealers and restorers, clubs and friends get together in the MESSE BREMEN halls to chat and talk shop in a relaxed atmosphere. In 2023, the classic vehicle show achieved a new record: with the organisers counting 46,407  visitors. Some 730 exhibitors from around Europe ensured a wide-ranging, varied programme. The Bremen Classic Motorshow team always brings a breath of fresh air and new ideas to the classic vehicle community. Its adaptability was again proven in 2021 and 2022 when the in-person show had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the team put together an online event in the form of a livestream. Another inspired idea was the new Red List category created for the Bremen Classic Motorshow. These are vehicles that were once common on the roads, but are on the verge of extinction today. Soon, the media and the community also adopted the concept and the new term. Since 2023, the BCM has been increasing its efforts to involve young classic vehicle fans.
